Sexual orientation (including heterosexuality, straightness, etc.) was invented in the 1860s by white cis male eugenicists who wanted to preserve racial and sexual superiority in the waning days of legalized chattel slavery, by perverting the rise of medical and psychiatric sciences to create a dominance cult among an unwittingly complicit populace.
For the vast majority of human history no such classifications existed. Of course there were myriad other constraints forced on who we today might call Queer, but there was no overarching method to harness the hate and grab power through institutions in this way until it was pathologized and industrialized.
And that means pre-history, the ancient world, and the pre-industrialized world was much more Queer than we like to pretend. Which is why I know this much is true...
