People in power often trade in euphemisms to preserve the delicate sensibilities of their followers, assuage the silent majority, and create a permission structure for the bolstering of their bigotry.
That's why it's so important we resist these games and speak truth about their actions. Because homophobic choices by any name ultimately result in disparate impacts. No matter how much some might try to sanitize them.
