Today I want to talk to you about vulnerability. That quality of being emotionally exposed. In order to facilitate connection. And extend yourself to others. To love is to be vulnerable, and vulnerability is the gateway to authenticity. 😍
If you learn one thing before leaving this planet, I pray that it is this:
❤️❤️YOU ARE WORTHY OF BEING LOVED❤️❤️
You can search the planet and not find a single being more worthy of love and compassion than yourself.
I know it’s scary. Everyone who loves will experience pain and heartache. But we are designed to love and extend our arms in togetherness. It is an essential part of our true nature. 😍 😍 😍
Vulnerability is not weakness, but the root of our courage and magnanimity. As GBTQ men, it can be tough to set down our armor and stop fighting. Trust has been broken.
But this is a dilemma because the very thing that will cure our loneliness and isolation is what in our past risked our lives and livelihoods, and left us feeling overexposed. 😔
And yet at some point we must gather ourselves and take a leap of faith. Recognize that although we cannot control the world, we can control our emotions and attitudes. And then muster the confidence to go to the places that scare us. Risk everything to be who were meant to be. 🔥🔥🔥
The good news is that vulnerability is a skill not a talent; it can be practiced and honed. 🔥 Steps to practicing vulnerability:
✅ Forgive everyone else: resentment is the poison I drink so you will die, while forgiveness is the gift you give yourself. I release you and I release me.
✅ Forgive yourself:humility (you’re not that important), daily self-empathy combined with rigorous honesty, just be yourself and do you.
✅ Get comfortable with uncertainty: breathe, let go, you’re not in control, safety is an illusion.
✅ Go to the places that scare you: take a risk, have an adventure, make a leap of faith.
✅ Cultivate a lighter touch: live, love, laugh, and dance. Say something silly. Do something foolish.
So jump on in, the water’s warm! ❤️
